ONA09 conferees discuss the role of women in online media in response to the Saturday morning keynote speech by Blogher.com co-founder and CEO Lisa Stone.

In her keynote speech this morning, Blogher.com co-founder and CEO Lisa Stone discussed the history and mission of her “community for women who blog.” Every month, Stone said, Blogher reaches more than 15 million people.

Stone stressed the importance of applying traditional journalistic values to Blogher. Everyone who blogs in the network, which includes both women and men, is required to sign an agreement to abide by certain rules. “The standards we use on our network are the standard tenets of good journalism,” she said. “What we know, what we’ve learned as journalists, has translated beautifully into this space,” she added.

Also, Stone addressed the rapidly changing ways women are consuming media. She emphasized the wide range of issues women blog about today, including technology, social issues, politics, pregnancy, travel and personal finance. In this video, conference attendees address the issue of the female perspective in online media.
