CitMedia: Getting Jobs Done in Communities Newspaper Next
Research asserts that tomorrow's news organizations need to focus on "jobs to be done" by media consumers. From those will arise tomorrow's niche products. Well, citizens have already figured that out and are launching community news ventures by the scores to fill in the gaps of absent or unsatisfactory news coverage. At the same time, key mainstream media and social networking sites are launching their own efforts to collaborate with citizens in reporting, generating or housing the news.
This workshop, produced by J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism, looks at why and how citizen news ventures are launching, how the public is participating, what?s working in the Pro/Am world ? and just when does journalism not have to be ?journalism? to get the job done. Hear how the most mature CitMedia sites are managing content and making money. Get an inside look at the Washington Post?s LoudounExtra initiative. View the full workshop agenda.
Cost is $100 for those who are registered for the conference. $150 for all others. Register now for the CitMedia workshop.
