Job Fair: Polish Those Resumes!

Ensure your recruiting representative is part of the ONA job fair, set for the first day of the annual conference on Friday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

With the industry thirsty for seasoned, energetic, creative and adaptive online journalists, the job fair is designed to give hiring managers access to the more than 350 delegates, some of whom may be seeking new opportunities, others perhaps able to suggest well suited candidates. Also, since ONA has scores of student journalist members, companies will be able to meet potential interns or forthcoming graduates.

If you are prospecting for a new position, plan to share your background with representatives of some of the most forward-thinking media companies.

The job fair has two packages:

Essential package (cost: $1,000)

Each job fair participant receives:

• Table in the main conference corridor or exclusive job fair room (contingent on number recruiters)
• Access to a quiet room for interviews
• Job listings placed in the members-only area on the ONA site after the conference, through December.
• Opportunity to advertise in the convention program

Deluxe package (cost: $3,500) includes each of the above, plus

• 2 ONA memberships (Members may attend conference at reduced rate)
• Insert in the attendee tote bag (insert provided by the sponsor)
• Company logo and 60-word company description in program
• One-quarter page black-and-white ad in conference program guide
• Company name and URL listed on conference Web site

A special rate of $500, comprising all the features of the “essential package,” is available to universities seeking to recruit prospective students.

The 2006 Online News Association Conference is the premier conference for those who work in, or have an interest in, online media and news. The Online Journalism Awards Banquet honors the very best online journalism produced in the past year.

The Online Journalism Awards have become the top awards in online journalism. Each year a distinguished panel of judges selects the very best work in nine different categories to be honored at the awards. The OJA Banquet is the event where the awards are presented, and the winners are honored for their efforts.
